Anastasia Grabov

About me…

Hi there! I’m Anastasia, I love writing and I’ve been lucky enough to call it my job in one capacity or another for the past 15 years. I’ve worn many hats in that time; as an editor of a wedding magazine, as the founder of a vintage style magazine, and as a freelance journalist with celeb interview and travel bylines in Hello, Cosmopolitan and the Independent.

Most recently I’ve been juggling travel copywriting gigs for global brands with raising two tiny humans. As if my hands weren’t already full, I’m now working on another project, Culture Stories.

Work Highlights & Skills

Home Comforts: Commission me to write for you and you’ll most likely find me working in front of this fine view.

COPYWRITING FOR GLOBAL BRANDS

I have a 5-year (and counting) freelance relationship with one of the largest translation and localisation companies operating today. Through them I work with some of the world’s biggest brands, writing and editing copy on the themes of travel, culture and retail. Since working on a great number of varied projects, I’ve honed the following skills:

  • Crafting copy using a strict style guide and tone of voice.

  • Incorporating SEO principes into my copy.

  • Writing product descriptions using available images and specifications for research.

FREELANCE CULTURE & TRAVEL JOURNALISM

I’m always open to freelance journalism opportunities if the fit is right. I pride myself on delivering exceptional, redable copy on time and to the brief specified. I’ve been commissioned by the Independent to write travel guides, and have had my celebrity interviews printed in magazines such as Hello, Cosmopolitan, FlyBe and Swiss News. My next aim is to write more arts and culture pieces. If you’re an editor looking to commission a fresh new voice, please get in touch!

MAGAZINE LAUNCHES

A true child of the Nineties, I grew up with a passion for magazines. Over the years, I’ve become as fascinated by the creation of publications as I am with the contents; page design, paper quality, distribution models et al. In 2010 I co-launched my very own magazine, The Colchester Circle, a freemium monthly that was read throughout the city. This was followed by Vintage & One of A Kind magazine, a 200-page glossy tome filled with fashion, homeware and lifestyle features. It was sold in Harrods and Selfridges and caught the eye of many a vintage-loving personality; Alice Levine and Lauren Laverne publicly supported the title, and Dawn O’Porter requested we interview her in our second issue!

IN-HOUSE MAGAZINE EDITORIAL

I started my professional writing career on a small magazine called Quick&Crafty, learning the art of publishing from my talented colleagues at Aceville Publications. It was a golden time for me; I relished the opportunity to learn as much as possible about every aspect of the process, from commissioning timely features and shooting products in a studio, to designing eye-catching covers, and choosing enticing covermounts. Every day was different and I was given the opportunity to write for the other publications Aceville published, such as Sew, Crafts Beautiful, Craft Business, and Let’s Get Crafting among many others.
